Eye-Tracking Heat Map

Today, I was researching about professional photos for branding purposes. I came across this interesting study as I was reading this article written by Austin Belcak, “How To Create A LinkedIn Profile Picture That Gets Results [15+ Examples]”. The Ladders, a career site, conducted an eye-tracking study on LinkedIn profiles.

The heat maps show that people spend 19% of their time staring at your profile picture.

The article also mentioned the natural tendency for humans to lock onto the gaze of others. Here is the heath map for Baby.com

That sure creates some food for thought! It looks like I will be practicing facial expressions in the mirror. Orson Welles leaves me with some inspiration, “Create your own visual style… let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.”
