A-Z 2020 Blogging Challenge – Theme Reveal

Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable.

William Pollard

What does excellence look like to you?

Each company will have a different answer as to what that will look like.

This year I will feature innovative companies starting with each letter of the alphabet for 2020’s A-to-Z Blogging Challenge inspired from my casual browsing from https://interestingengineering.com/. I will explore how each of these companies left an impact in their industry and the community around them.

This year the Coronavirus outbreak has globally impacted the world. Executive leaders of various companies are creatively working around the crisis to meet client expectations and market demands. Several workers at various firms have been working remotely in the past few weeks and meetings have been conducted via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Skype. Yet, there is a sizeable population who have lost their jobs.

How do leaders navigate the challenges of managing a virtual team? What kind of communication plan will be set in motion? How does the management team manage business continuity day-to-day?

Many individuals around the world brainstormed and implemented inventions in response to the virus from apps demonstrating where each person has visited to 3-D printing of life-saving devices to help replenish dwindling supplies. I marvel at how they envisioned these products from start to finish by tapping into their imagination.

Today I read a headline that caught my attention:

The coronavirus pandemic is a failure of imagination.

Boston Globe

J.K. Rowling once said, “Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power to that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared.”

Join me on this journey to explore the meaning of imagination and its connection to innovation management. Looking forward to interacting & collaborating with you all on this journey!

Collaboration is important not just because it’s a better way to learn. The spirit of collaboration is penetrating every institution and all of our lives. So learning to collaborate is part of equipping yourself for effectiveness, problem solving, innovation and life-long learning in an ever-changing networked economy.
